GRAMMAR

PRESENT PERFECT SIMPLE 

Affirmative:                                                     

I / you have finished                                                                  
he/ she/ it  has finished                                                      
we/ you /they have finished        
                                        

Negative:   

I / you have not (haven't) finished
he/ she/ it   has not (hasn't) finished
we/ you /they  have not (haven't) finished

Interrogative:

have I /You  finished ?
has he/ she/ it  finished?
have we/ you/ they  finished?

Uses: 

  •  An action that began in the past and continues until the present.
  • An action that took place at an undetermined time in the past, but is connected to the present.
  •  Express that an action has just occurred. Then add '' just '' between the auxiliary and the participle.
  •  never, ever, already, just between the auxiliary (have) and the participle of the verb
  • yet always appear in the end of the sentence.
  • just, never, already in sentece affirmative
  • yet in negative 
  • already, ever, yet, just in sentence interrogative
  • For indicates how much the action lasted and since when it began

 

Adverbs of frequency / Time expressions 

  never, ever, already, just, yet, recently, lately, how long..?, for, since, in recent years

Examples  

The emergency service boat has just arrived
I have been a pilot for ten years.
John has joined a rescue team recently
the plane has already taken off
have you checked the weather forecast for tomorrow yet ?
I've never seen a tornado
He has not hiked alone yet
have you ever been trapped in a lift?
how long have you been a firefighter?
